PreventID
Effective diagnosis af nail mycosis.
PreventID® Dermatophyte is a rapid immunochromatographic test for the qualitative detection of dermatophyte antigens in nail specimens.
Fungal nail infections, also known as onychomycosis, are generally caused by dermatophytes, a group of filamentous fungi. Onychomycosis caused by dermatophytes is referred to as tinea unguium.¹
Onychomycosis can affect anyone, although some individuals are at greater risk than others. Major risk factors include wearing occlusive footwear, repeated nail trauma, genetic predisposition, metabolic disorders such as diabetes, and various forms of immunosuppression, including HIV infection. In addition, fungal nail disease is more common in men and in individuals with pre-existing nail disorders, such as psoriasis.²
Delayed diagnosis may result in temporary or permanent nail dystrophy.³
Current diagnostic methods often require relatively long turnaround times.³ With PreventID® Dermatophyte, podiatrists and foot care professionals can perform rapid and reliable on-site diagnosis directly at the point of care.

PreventID® Dermatophyte is a rapid immunochromatographic assay designed for the qualitative detection of dermatophyte antigens in nail specimens.
The test detects dermatophyte-specific antigens, including those of Trichophyton rubrum, one of the leading causative agents of tinea unguium.
Results are available directly at the point of care, enabling healthcare professionals to rapidly assess the presence of a dermatophyte nail infection.
To perform the test, only a nail specimen is required.
- Specimen type: Nail clipping / nail specimen
- Sample required: Only 1 mg of nail material
- Collection: The specimen is collected directly from the affected nail.
PreventID® Dermatophyte fits into the initial stage of the onychomycosis diagnostic pathway, enabling rapid and reliable diagnosis directly in the clinic.
In the event of a positive result, healthcare professionals can promptly initiate appropriate treatment, optimizing patient management.
