Fungitell STAT®

Rapid Screening for Invasive Fungal Infections

Fungitell STAT® is a colorimetric test that uses the activation of an enzymatic cascade to detect the presence of (1→3)-β-D-Glucan in the serum of patients at risk for invasive fungal infections. Thanks to the single-sample format and the compact size compared to the original 96-well format, Fungitell STAT® meets the need for rapid diagnostic answers with reliable results, guaranteed by Fungitell® technology, the gold standard for rapid screening of invasive fungal infections since 2004.

Fungitell STAT® allows flexible analysis of one or a few samples at a time, from 1 to 7 per cycle, using Lab Kinetics’ 8-well reader and BG Analytics® software. This system provides fast and easy-to-interpret results, automatically stratified by the software into Negative, Indeterminate and Positive, thanks to the presence of an internal control that is analyzed simultaneously with the samples.

Test reference values for the Beta-Glucan Index (BGI):

  • Negative: ≤ 0,74
  • Undetermined: 0,75 – 1,1
  • Positive: ≥ 1,2

A New Feature: Immediate Data Stratification:

BG Analytics®, in addition to the Beta-Glucan Index, now provides the concentration of Beta-Glucan in pg/mL, allowing for immediate data stratification — a format more familiar to the world of fungal infection diagnostics.

Features and Benefits:

  • Analysis on individual samples or small batches, with results available in less than an hour.
  • Flexibility in analysis management, eliminating the need to accumulate samples or use expensive external services.
  • First and only single test for the detection of (1→3)-β-D-Glucan that is FDA-approved and CE-marked.
  • Detects glucan from pathogenic fungi, including Candida, Aspergillus and Pneumocystis.
  • Compact size: 17.45 cm (W) x 11.84 cm (D) x 3.81 cm (H), with minimal maintenance required.
  • Each well is individually timed, enabling instant data acquisition upon insertion of the tube into the reader.
  • Use of disposable depigmented glass tubes, minimizing the risk of contamination.

ESTRAZIONE: Qiagen EZ1, QiaSymphony, Qiagen QIAamp spin column, Molysis from Molzym, Roche MagnaPure, Qiagen QIACube.

AMPLIFICAZIONE: BioRad CFX96, Illumna Eco, PCR MAX Eco, Roche LC480 (II), BMS MIC, ABI 7500 Fast, Qiagen RotorGene

Il “Journal of Fungi, ha pubblicato il paper “Evaluation of the new AspID polymerase chain reaction assay
for detection of Aspergillus species: A pilot study”.

Di cui riportiamo il riassunto:

The newly developed AspID PCR assay for detection of Aspergillus spp. was evaluated with an interlaboratory quality control programme panel and human bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) samples. With the quality control programme, 8 out of 9 panel members were correctly identified. With the clinical study, 36 BALF samples that had been obtained from 18 patients with invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA) and 18 without IPA were investigated. Sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative likelihood ratio for the AspID assay were 94.1% (95% CI 73.3-99.9), 76.5% (95% CI 50.1-93.2), 4 (95% CI 1.7-9.5) and 0.1 (95% CI 0.01-0.5) respectively.

STUDIO
